Our Story

Get to Know Us

The ACCN began as networking meetings aimed at building community and connecting resources. Our ambition is to build knowledge, connect stakeholders and amplify Atlantic Canadian climate and social justice work.

Services

After speaking with grassroots organizations, citizen actors and activists we've come to realize that there are many people trying to make a difference but are unequipped or lack the confidence and skill to create their potential impact. We strive to close those gaps and give barrier-free support and training to allow the acceleration of climate action, adaptation, mitigation and social justice issues solutions.

Our network is an extension of Climate Reality Project Canada's Community Climate Hub program focused on providing peer-to-peer education and connecting stakeholders, academics, NGOs and citizens to create a transparent conversation and grow literacy and comprehension about Atlantic Canada's greatest issues.

The time is now.

Atlantic Canada Climate Network operates on the unceded territory of the Mi'kmaq, Wolastoqiyik, Passamaquoddy, Penobscot, and Abenaki nations, or, The Wabanaki Confederacy, as well as Innu, and Inuit Peoples.

This territory is covered by the “Treaties of Peace and Friendship”, which these nations first signed with the British Crown in 1726. The treaties did not deal with the surrender of lands and resources, but in fact, established the rules for what was to be an ongoing relationship between nations.
